The EduTech Department at Saarland University has successfully concluded the 2nd run of its open online course supported by conversational agent called: Bildungstechnologien für das Klassenzimmer – Educational Technology for the Classroom.
The 5-week Micro-MOOC in German aims at bringing together in- and pre-service teachers and students of educational technology. The course features mini video lectures, reading assignments, quizzes, and joint analysis of authentic problem cases supported with AI. Analysis shows how the conversational agent works in German, initiating and structuring discourse of learners.
Moreover, using the LearnWorlds platform, we could confirm that the agent works across different learning management systems.
Building on the first run last year, we could fine-tune the agent to instigate discussions and to make learners dive deeply into deliberation about the concepts applied to the problem cases. Good news for non-German speakers: An English version of the Micro Mooc is planned for the winter term of 2020.
An exciting opportunity to learn about and participate in an international community devoted to the use of Conversational Agents for Learning. Conversational Agents (CAs) are an innovative technology that uses Artificial Intelligence techniques to provide more personalized and fruitful interactions for learning.
